What’s the Difference? Winnebago Travato & Roadtrek Zion
When it comes to the Winnebago Travato and Roadtrek Zion, they may look the same on the outside but there are a few key differences between the two. Choosing which one is right for you will depend on your personal preference or budget.
Chassis
Both the Travato and Zion are built on the powerful, fuel-efficient Ram ProMaster chassis. The ProMaster comes standard with a 280-hp, 3.6L V6 gas engine, and 6-speed automatic transmission. Unlike other Class B motorhomes, the ProMaster features a 159” wheelbase making driving and parking easy. Both models feature a spacious interior allowing plenty of room for all your gear. The Zion is available in two chassis options, the Zion is built on the Ram 3500 chassis while the Zion SRT is on the 2500 series chassis. When it comes to tank capacities there are a few differences between the Travato and Zion. The Travato uses a combined gray and black water tank that holds 11 gallons of black and 15 gallons of grey while the Zion has separate tanks that hold 9.6 gallons of black and 22.8 gallons of gray. The Zion has a larger freshwater tank with a 37-gallon capacity compared to the Travato which ranges from 18-23 gallons depending on the floorplan.
Floorplan
The floorplan between the two models varies quite a bit. The Travato comes in four different layouts (59G, 59GL, 59K, 59KL) while the Zion is only offered in two. The Zion and Travato 59K models both have the option for the bed to be used as a king or as two twin beds. The Zion SRT model uses a powered rear sofa that easily converts into a queen size bed. One of the biggest differences is the location of the bathroom. The Zion bathroom is located in the front of the coach behind the driver’s seat, while the Travao bathroom is in the rear. The air conditioners also vary between the two, the Zion has an 11,000 BTU while the Travato is a 13,500 BTU.
Warranty
Every Roadtrek Zion motorhome is backed by a six-year, unlimited mile limited warranty that is fully transferable. This covers any faulty workmanship or material supplied by Roadtrek. The Travato is covered by Winnebagos 12-month/15,000-mile basic warranty. Both motorhomes have a chassis warranty covered by Ram Trucks. This includes a 5-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty covering the cost of repairs on all covered powertrain components – engine, transmission, and drive system. Also included is a 3-year/36,000-mile Limited Warranty, this provides bumper-to-bumper coverage of your vehicle, from the body to the electrical system.
Price
There is about a $20K difference in the starting price between the Travato and Zion SRT base models. The Roadtrek Zion SRT has a starting MSRP of $90,509 while the Winnebago Travato starts at $111,645. The Zion could be a good option if you are on a budget but if you are looking for more choices in floorplan options and availability the Travato may be for you.
Conclusion
Overall both the Travato and Zion are great options if you are in the market for a class B motorhome.
