Top 10 Features of the 2022 Winnebago Ekko

The all-new Winnebago Ekko combines the efficiency of a camper van, the added capacity of a Class C coach, and the enhanced capability of AWD to create not just a new model, but an entirely new type of RV. Below are our Top 10 features of the Winnebago Ekko.

1. Winnebago Innovation

Since the 1950s Winnebago Industries has been leading the way in RV innovation, Winnebago is committed to pushing the boundaries in order to develop innovative and differentiated solutions, and the all-new Ekko is no different.

1. All-Wheel Drive Chassis

The Ekko is built on the Ford Transit Chassis and features a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 gasoline engine with 310 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque. Standard safety features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Keeping System, Pre-Collision Braking, Driver Alert, Blind Spot Monitoring, and more. But perhaps the most exciting feature is the AWD. While most RVs are rear-wheel drive, the Ekko gives you peace of mind when the weather is bad or you want to venture farther off the beaten path.

3. All-Weather Capability

While most RVs need to be winterized when it gets colder, the Ekko is designed to be used year-round. The way this is accomplished is by having all tanks and water lines inside the coach above the floor, all-season insulation throughout, and dual-pane acrylic windows. The Ekko also features multiple insulated exterior compartments.

4. Size

Another unique feature is the Ekko blurs the lines between a Class B van and a Class C motorhome. With an exterior length of 23′ and exterior width of 7′ 2.5″ the Ekko is smaller than some Class B vans, this makes driving and parking much easier than larger motorhomes.

5. Spare Tire

Let’s face it, nobody wants to be stranded with a flat tire when miles away from civilization. Most motorhomes today are not equipped with a spare tire in order to make room for tanks or save weight. The Ekko features a full-size spare tire as well as a TPMS system to monitor your tire pressures.

6. Lithium Power

Are you ready to take your adventures off the grid? The Ekko comes standard with Lithionis Lithium Batteries, two 170-watt solar panels, one 115-watt solar panel, and 2,000-watt pure sine wave inverter. In addition to the lithium, the Ekko also comes with a Cummins Onan QG 2,800i gas generator. If you prefer to not have the generator, an optional second 320-amp-hour lithium-ion battery can be added.

7. Cassette Toilet

Cassette Toilets are becoming more popular in the RV industry. The way a cassette toilet works is instead of the waste going into your black tank, it enters a small, portable 5 gallon waste tank. You can remove this waste tank, which rolls on wheels like a suitcase, and dump it at a public restroom or dump station. This allows you to dump your waste without needing to drive your RV to a dump station and connect a waste hose.

8. Passenger Seatbelts

Safety is very important to Winnebago. The Ekko can seat 4 thanks to the 2 automotive-grade passenger seats in the dinette area. The seats feature 3-point seat belts in order to keep your family and loved ones safe while traveling.

9. Pivoting Bathroom

The Ekko bathroom is unlike any other RV on the market. In order to save space in the coach, Winnebago designed a pivoting wall inside the bathroom that allows you to easily convert from a bathroom into a shower.

10. Gear Garage

Most people who travel in an RV have some type of gear to bring along, whether it’s bicycles, climbing gear, or perhaps fishing equipment. The Ekko features a very large rear gear garage with an L-track cargo tie down system that secures your cargo. Not only is the gear garage insulated but it is also heated to avoid freezing temptures when camping in cold climates.
